A tool doesn’t work in its own self-interest. Consider a hammer, it simply works in whatever way its master uses it. If it is broken, it cannot repair itself; its master must repair it (often using other tools to do so). A tool surrenders itself completely to its master to be used, repaired, and preserved for as long as it continues to be useful.

Similarly, Jesus asks us to surrender completely to Him and become tools in the hands of God. Jesus tells us to put aside our own self-interests and seek first the kingdom of God. As long as we surrender ourselves totally to His service, He promises to care for us.

Listen to the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:31-33:

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Perhaps, it is time to surrender yourself completely to His service and trust Him to use you, repair you, and preserve your life until it’s time to go to your reward, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23-24).

Have you surrendered all to Christ? Are you allowing Him to use you? Are you allowing Him to repair and mend you when you’re broken? Are you trusting in Him, or yourself, for your preservation?

I love you and God loves you,
