I grew up being taught in Bible classes, “There are five ‘steps’ of salvation: Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, and Be Baptized.” This was often illustrated with a staircase, each step representing one of the steps of salvation.
I appreciated your comments on unintended consequences of using the “5 steps”. I’ve often heard a sixth added “live a Christian life” that often comes across as we stay saved by works. A book, The Faith Once for All, by Jack Cottrell was very helpful in my gaining a better understanding of faith & grace after hearing the “5 steps” all my life. I greatly enjoy your podcast.
