You know, it’s amazing how many people make HUGE assumptions about the Bible; assumptions that could affect the eternity of their souls. They assume if they have heard a “pastor” talk about something a million times, it must be in the Bible. You might be surprised by just how many oft-used religious phrases are absent from the pages of Scripture. Is your soul in jeopardy because you assume something is in the Bible that isn’t?

Bible Question

Let me ask you a multiple choice question and allow you to find the answer on your own. If you will be honest with this question it might change the way you think about salvation. Here’s the question:

Which ONE of these phrases is found in the Bible?

     A. “ask Jesus into your heart”

     B. “accept Jesus as your personal Savior”

     C. “obey the gospel”

What do you think? Do you think you know the answer? Remember, only one of these phrases is found in Scripture. And although the other two are used constantly, the words and the concepts are foreign to God’s plan of salvation.

To find the answer, go to biblegateway.com and search for these phrases in any standard translation (not a paraphrase Bible). Make sure to put the phrases in quotes to narrow your results. Soon you will see which one is a biblical phrase and which two are the invention of man.

I love you and God loves you,
