Summary:

In this episode of the CrossTalk podcast, Sam Dominguez, James Sumners, and Wes McAdams discuss the question, “Should we be loyal to a particular congregation?” When we have conflicts in the church, is it pleasing to God for us to move to another congregation? How can we keep from being “church-hoppers”?

E-Mail That We Discussed:

I have been following the blog and podcast for some time now, so I thought I’d throw out a topic you could talk about sometime. In my area, there seems to be an issue with what someone I know has called ” church loyalty.” It seems that the Lord’s church in our area has developed a culture or mindset of “hopping” to a different congregation at the first sign of adversity. I’m not talking about doctrinal disputes or even disagreements over traditions–it seems like if any interpersonal issue comes up between people, the first response is for someone to leave and go somewhere else instead of working things out together.

Is “church loyalty” an ideal that we should be striving for? If so, how do we cultivate this spirit in our local congregations so that we can work out our issues together? I would really be interested to hear you guys discuss this on the podcast.

Thanks for all you do!

Chris
